Portrait paintings – 30 Faces 30 Days: days 21 to 25

Almost the last five from the Sktchy portrait challenge (#30Faces30Days) using watercolors and gouache.

Still more watercolor painting, but some very nice exercises again πŸ™‚ Especially the first lesson by Alison Pinto seemed so tough that I only drew the face on first day, and then started the watercolor challenge the next day πŸ˜€

There was some great watercolor exercises, that really pushed me to the limits and also gave some inspiration to be a bit more loose with colors and go for the vibrant sunny look with fun colors.

Finished paintings:

The second and last images are gouache, and the other are watercolor (third also with some black pigma brush pen markings and white gelly roll).

Again I liked the watercolor challenges a lot, the first day lesson was very intimidating, to get the colors and blending working without errors and fiddling. Then the third day watercolor painting I was quite relaxed after the first day super trial πŸ˜€ and same with the fourth day with muted colors, no stress. Gouache felt a bit of struggle in the second day lesson, had do continue working with it a bit longer, adding truly more thick layers and shifting hues. In the last I just went with it, made a yellow initial wash, quite strong though and then put more red base color for the face and started building from there.

I also have the last five days ready, so need to just collect the details together πŸ™‚
