Acrylic painting – Still life

Another painting course day topic. Again still life with a food image twist. This was painted in acrylics was to be more loose and as topic we googled social media sites for food images, foodies (?).

We started with googling food images with nice composition, colors etc. I browsed Instagram the previous night and found many nice pictures. However, the shot was also advised to be front top to down, so that narrowed down the options. The angle was not mandatory, but I wanted to follow up on that since I came upon this nice plate setting. So I picked this nice cake image as a reference. The reference for the image was this recipe picture: https://www.giftofhospitality.com/cherry-coffee-cake/

Food pictures are actually quite nice subjects, but not exactly something that I paint that often. I mainly used my tiny Van Gogh tubes and white bigger tube of Amsterdam standard acrylics in this painting.

I also have few other acrylic gouache (Liquitex) mixed media paintings to post about and related to that little trials and errors with polymer clay… 😛 (and new course paintings coming up also, as soon as I finish them)

Ha 😀 I looked at way too many cake images that I would’ve eaten all if I had any! Luckily I am too lazy to bake, but I do have to make something, sweet tooth is aching 😉
