Charcoal portrait

After a buch of pencil drawing practices and chalk life drawings of entire human bodies I wanted to do a charcoal portrait practice but also with a bit more precision than I’d get with charcoal sticks, so I bought
Koh-I-Noor Gioconda Negro pens, 1-3 strength. I also used in hair and background the huge black Derwent XL charcoal block to cover large areas fast.

For reference I just googled image of a character that popped to my mind (was watching Magicians). There was nice light setting in the ref, but otherwise this didn’t turn too much look a like.
